An activation is a prompt for attention. The monitoring arrangement should explain the event, the information available to the operator and the actions the client has authorised. Those instructions need to fit the actual site.
Describe the event
Identify the camera, scene and supported detection rule. Agree the monitored hours and expected activity so that the operator has a useful basis for reviewing the scene.
Give verification context
The operator needs an appropriate view and enough context to assess what has happened. Camera position, lighting and connectivity all affect the information available at the time of the activation.
Write the response instructions
Identify the contact order, permitted actions and the information needed by the client. Audio warnings, keyholder calls and other actions depend on the equipment and service arrangement.
Keep contacts and activity current
Notify the service of changes to site hours, authorised contractors, contact numbers and access arrangements. Information that was correct at mobilisation can become unreliable as the project develops.
Review activations and outcomes
Recurring unwanted activations may indicate a changing scene, unsuitable settings or an unrecorded pattern of legitimate activity. Use the review to identify a practical adjustment and retain incident information as agreed.
